She's done! This is my first attempt to needlefelt something that wasn't flat:
I'm actually really really pleased with her. I know she's not perfect, but I love how she came out. No face, as I was going for a waldorf-esque look (and the fact that I'd probably have screwed up a face). But anyway, I think she came out nice and "mothery" looking. She's still kind of fuzzy in places though...any advice about that? It seems like I poked at her forever, but as I've never done a figure before I don't know how long one should poke. Maybe not fuzzy, but I'm able to see tiny strands of roving poking out on her apron and dress. That's ok, though - I love her fuzz and all.
So now that Mother Earth is finally finished I'm going to set up the nature table tomorrow night. I'd set it up tonight, but the set-up involves asking The Mister to bring in an extra end table from the shed. It's 10:00 and I've already made the poor man run out once for Cool Ranch Doritos - seems that this pregnancy I crave anything that qualifies as nutritionally deficit.
breyerchic, thanks so much for the fiber link. Guess what? I go to that festival every year!! It's where I buy most of my roving, and the place where I first learned about needlefelting. I'm so glad you sent me the link, as I wasn't sure when it was this year. :)
And in more needlefelting news, I've joined another play food swap, for which I'll be making needlefelted fried eggs. This swap is slightly different in that instead of getting a package or packages from one person, everyone sends their food (in my case 2 eggs) to the coordinator, who then mails out packages filled with goodies made by everyone in the swap. Looks like it will be a good one, and the deadline isn't till mid-November, so that should be plenty of time to get the eggs done.
Anyone else starting to make their Christmas craft lists? Ok, I'm probably behind and you made yours months ago. I've got several ideas for Short Pants and Bean, but once again Boba has stumped me. He loves Star Wars, and has been into Harry Potter recently, so maybe I can think of something to tie into one of those.
She looks great!

Awesome, I was pretty sure you knew it existed but thought it'd help to send a link. It's possible I'll go but there are a few other things I'd like to do that weekend (my fall break) so we'll see.
