We just had one of those weekends where everything was perfect. Ever have one of those? Saturday we had our visit from the inlaws followed by a trip to see a model train display. Bean didn't care for it all that much, but the 2 boys loved it. Boba has been saying for some time that he would like to build a model train display in part of our basement, so he got lots of good (and a few slightly unrealistic) ideas.
On Sunday The Mister spent some time working on Boba's new room (almost done!) so the kids and I headed over to a local orchard. They have all sorts of fun things for the kiddos, including a petting zoo. My sweet Bean spent lots of time feeding the deer:
And of course what's better when you're a kid than a huge jumpy thing? I love how both Bean and Boba helped Short Pants up. He's so lucky and doesn't even know it.
Next we went through the corn maze:
Short Pants was very happy to find some "torn" on the ground:
We had wanted to go out in the fields raspberry and apple picking, but at over 90 degrees we thought it was a bit too hot, so we ended up going through the orchard's on-site store. We ended up lugging home some winesap apples, a few tiny pumpkins, and some apple butter. Oh, and apple cider, which Bean and Boba both love so much that I have to impose strict limits on it or else they'd drink the entire gallon in 30 minutes.
We followed all this activity up later in the day with a walk at the park, where we spotted a heron. The kids played on the slides while I collected items for the nature table that I swear will finally be set up this month. Once we got back home Boba helped me make drop biscuits for the apple butter. Few things are better than hot biscuits and apple butter, I think.
And even fewer things are better than a weekend having so much fun with your kiddos.

Have you seen this http://www.southernindianafiberarts.com/index.html
I'm not sure how close it is to you guys, but shouldn't be too far. Though once you go to a fiber festival you're hooked.
