My suck-ass computer just lost my last post, so this one is going in with a minimum of effort.
But not before I add that I also hate my suck-ass old time TV, which now uses some kind of stupid box and booster thanks to the whole digital thing. Yep, it's GREAT losing a signal every 2 seconds when you're trying to get the 3-year-old to quietly watch cartoons so that you can get the baby off to sleep. GREAT.
Anyway, I also hate shoveling rock, even though I'm doing a lot of it. Almost 80 new plants for the yard sounds great till they actually show up and you have to, you know, plant them. Because the fire ants in our yard seem to be attracted to mulch and getting bit and stung while your're weeding/watering is no kind of fun, we finally got the bright idea last year to rock in everything. I give you Exhibit A, which sadly resembles a huge pile of rocks because all of the coneflowers and lavender growing in it are so tiny:
I now give you Exhibit B, a shade garden with almost 50 tiny plants and lots of big rocks:
I can't give you Exhibit C, because I was too tired to take a picture of it. We're re-rocking all of the garden paths. 1 truckload of gravel down, about 6 more to go. Luckily Boba wants to make some cash.
While I wait for all of the rock to be shoveled and my tiny plants to grow, I'm trying to remember to look at stuff that's much better than my suck-ass TV. Like the house that I love in the evening sunlight, inside:
And out:
And hopeful things hidden and found:
But most of all,
some of the people who I love celebrating their birthdays together:
My eldest, the one who introduced me to the wonderful world of motherhood, turns 14 today. Happy Birthday, Boba. I love you and always will. Thank you for being the first.
Happy Birthday Boba! :)
*shudder* Although no fire ants is good, we've also been refraining from planting because the previous owners of our house rocked in everything -- deep. It really is no fun to plant in rocks.
Beautiful photos!

Happy Birthday Boba!
... and dude, your house is gorgeous (was admiring the outdoor shot!)... also love evening light, that's about the only time of day I like our kitchen :)

Oh, you're right - that *doesn't* sound like any fun at all! I wonder why they rocked in so deeply?

Evening light is the best, isn't it? Thanks for the house compliment - I need all of those I can get! Sometimes I feel like we bought The Money Pit! There are sooooo many things that still need fixing and fixing up.

Hmm..typepad ate my first reply! Sorry about all of the rocks at your place - I wonder why they rocked so deeply? That sounds like such a pain.
